Welcome to Beneath the Dragon Bones. We are a semi-literate to literate role play group, which means we strive for creativity and interesting interactions between characters. We are also a civil guild, which means we are all friendly with each other out of character. If you have a problem with another member, please PM a member of staff about it. Your opinion matters and we want this to be a fun environment for everyone.

General Rules

one; There will be no bullying, belittling, attacking, or otherwise making fun of another member. If staff is informed, or sees this happening, you will be banned on the spot.

two; All content on the site should be kept at Pg-13, as stated in the Proboard's ToS, because we are required by Probaords to tell you about this.

three; There is a 3-strike warning system in place. You get 3 strikes, before immediate termination occurs. One (1) strike is 25%. Two (2) strikes is 50%. Three (3) strikes is 75%. On the fourth (4) warning, which is 100%, your account will be immediately banned, and your IP address banned as well. Please bear in mind that any of these three strike system can be foregone, if the situation is appropriate. The Admin has full rights to ban and terminate any member that breaks any ToS.  This is also a system in place to make Proboards happy. Just let them be happy.

four; Each thread has a different board that it should be placed under. Place each thread in their correct board, or a Mod will move it to the correct board. If you're not sure, please ask someone. If you continue to place threads in the wrong board deemed to be on purpose, you will receive a warning.

five; The shout box is used for friendly chatting and contacting a Mod quickly when they're online. Do not spam this tool. It is simply that: a tool. Do not plan your RP inside of shoutbox. Do so in a PM or a thread. You can comment on a RP in shoutbox, but do not plan it in there. If we see excessive spamming, you will receive a warning. Do not set roleplays up on the shout box.

six; If you are going to report a member, please send a PM with the title "Report [member's name here] " followed by the user's name. In the body of your message, please include some proof of the incident. This will help us in better assessing the situation.

seven; Please allow staff to handle site problems. If you see someone breaking the rules, send a PM to a staff member instead of trying to handle it yourself.

eight; Any suggestions should be made on the Suggestion thread, and not given to an individual staff member. As a team, we strive to work for all suggestions, but in order to do so, we need to all be able to hear suggestions from you, not just a singled out staff member. Any suggestion made to an individual staff member will not be addressed by the team.

nine; These rules are a guidelines and can change at any time. You may or may not be made aware should these rules change, but Mods and Admin reserve the right to make changes as needed. If the Terms of Service change, please visit once in awhile to note said changes. Not every change will be announced.

We are here to abide by Proboards ToS, as well. Don't get us in trouble because you wanted to go crazy. Be good.

The Rules

Gaia will never break us.

1.) Post at least once every two weeks. We have a two-week rotational system for all characters. You can post more often, if you'd like, but you must post once every two weeks. If you miss that two weeks, you can post until the second rotation. If you miss two rotations, which is a month, your character will be removed.

We will also be posting in 3rd person, past tense, only.

In addition, anime pictures, paintings or drawn illustrations will be the only accepted forms of characters and their dragons


2.) You needn't have a beautiful post to be part of this roleplay. Please include the name of your character at the top, and a picture, so we know who we are reading about.


3.) Post length will vary depending on what is going on in that current scene, we get that. But, please never have any one-liners, and post as much as you possibly can to keep things moving. Make sure when you post, someone has the ability to respond to you, otherwise you're talking to air.



4.) Remember we are on Proboards. Although they do not come around to check individual websites, please don't give them a reason to filter us. Be smart about what you post, and just don't get us in trouble for crazy scenes.

Your dragon was GIVEN to you between the ages of 5 - 10. This is to make sure the child can care for the dragon. Younger children cannot care for an egg by themselves, so it has been decided that they were a bit older when given an egg. You hatched the dragon yourself after some time of keeping it warm. Don't tell me you found your dragon in a cave, under a rock, while you were running away from the Emperor and put the dragon on your shoulder. Your character will not be able to find a wild dragon egg and hatch it to be your dragon. A wild dragon mother is extremely protective and will eat anyone who is messing with her eggs. You hatched your dragon when you were a kid. The hatching process is extremely important, as it creates an everlasting bond that helps develop your magical abilities.


5.) Your dragon can fly, of course, but it cannot carry you. If you suddenly begin riding on your dragon's back, we're sorry, but you've squished and killed your dragon. The large dragons have been extinct now for a long time, and your dragons are quite small. Please save a life. Do not kill your dragon.


6.) We are not in any modern setting. Please do not let me catch you with such technology. Think about fantasy. Think about the time when horses and carriages were a thing. Remember fire? Yeah, we have that here. No electricity, despite our lightning dragons. Do not flip on a switch. Do not call your friend or text them. No, no, if you want a message sent, you send a messenger dragon. They are about the size of a pigeon and fly faster than any other species of dragon.

Should I find you with technology, your character is going to the guillotine. Yes, we will make a guillotine just for you.


7.) For the sake of this roleplay we want young adults to travel with the Prince's party. Your character can be a child, but the Prince is not going to include him in his travels. Feel free to use children to advance the story and make things interesting, but please do not try to make the children go save the world.

For the Prince's traveling party, we are looking for 19 years and older, as most of the characters in our roleplay will be adults who are living their own lives. For the sake of our roleplay and not "true to life", they are not being married at 14 or whatever god-awful ages people did/still do.

In addition to this, your dragons are at least five years younger than your human, as they were given dragon eggs starting at the age of five. Although, some children received eggs as late as ten, but no later than that. However, keep in mind, dragons do not age the same way humans do. Your dragon will outlive you, no matter how old you get. Though, they may die in battle or get sick, if they do not get old. They will outlive you, unless they die tragically or of a broken heart. Real physics apply. Humans and dragons are capable of dying.

All beings in this roleplay are human, for the sake of fairness.


8.) Fill out your Reserve skeleton and post it in our Reserves Thread. This will help us keep track of how many roles are being filled, and what jobs are included in them.

For your profile, please make a new thread in our Profile Section and fill your profile in there. Once it is completed, you may contact a Moderator to review it.
Your reserve will wait for you for a two weeks. This is the same amount of time as our rotation schedule. Should we not get your profile by this time, your reserve will be deleted. You will not be contacted, as this is your warning.


9.) Your characters are not perfect, nor are they full of sob stories. If I see too many sob stories, we're cutting those off, and your character will have to have a different back story. Please don't tell me both parents are dead, unless you are planning on running the family business all by your lonesome.

You can be from whatever village you want, but remember, we start our journey from Tibbolt. If you are starting this roleplay in another village, it will take you a hell of a long time to travel to where we are and to talk to us before we have to flee. So, you can be born in whatever village you choose, and then start the roleplay in another village. Please start in either Tibbolt or Carpary for the sake of simplicity if you are planing on traveling with us. Not everyone has to travel, and you can come and go as you please. But, if you wish to travel with the Prince at the start of the journey, you must do so nearby.

The tax collector comes by once every year, so prepare your taxes and be prepared to pay up.



10.) I hope this is obvious, but please do not kill anyone without their permission. You are welcome to create and kill any NPC you wish, but please do not kill the Emperor or the Tax Collector unless I give the say-so.


11.) For the purpose of this roleplay, we will be using our elements as 'benders', to be fair to everyone one else in this roleplay. For example, a water element can use water to their will, but they cannot manipulate ice, because they are two different elements. In your profile section about your magic ability, you can tell us what kind of style you use for your bending, but it must be approved by us before it can be used.

All humans in this world have an element. It is possible to have a child that is not a parental element. An ice element mother and a fire element father can have an earth element child. Elements are determined by the child's dragon and what abilities the child is born with. It does not have anything to do with genetics.

You must also include any and all abilities that your character has, including its limitations. Please do not go beyond the scope of your powers that you list in your profile, as your character is not overpowered and unstoppable. All characters are limited in their magical abilities, and all magic comes at a cost.

With all special abilities, your character will wear out once using their special ability. This is to ensure no one is over powered. Should you have a cool ability that is approved, they can only use it for a short period of time in battle.


12.) Dragons can only communicate with their bonded human via telepathy. Other dragons can also be spoken to this way, however, the dragon itself chooses who it speaks to in this manner. Other people in this roleplay can only hear squeaks/roars/chirps/etc from the dragon when it is 'talking' aloud.

You can only bond with one dragon via telepathy. If your dragon dies, then you lose the ability to communicate this way with any dragon. You can always speak verbally to other dragons, but they cannot speak back to you.

In addition, for clarification purposes, there are no crossbreeds of dragons. What elements are available are what you get. A fire and ice dragon cannot mate. This is to keep from muddying things too much.

Rules can be added or changed as needed.

If this roleplay is starting to slow down, I will do what I need to for it to keep running. If your character is in a scene and you go MIA without telling us, we will move your character for you and you can continue when you return.




13.) This is specifically to avoid Mary Sue perfect characters. In the past we had a few of these kinds of "perfect" characters show up, so here's a good way to make sure yours doesn't become one. If your character, Johnny Ramone, decides to fight another character, like Joan Jett, and Joan Jett lands a hit in that post, Johnny can't just magically dodge it but land an even better hit like a god. If this happens, we will Dikembe Mutombo your Johnny Ramone right into the ground and Joan Jett will win the fight. No character can be untouchable and all-powerful. That's not how fair roleplays go. You can't kill another player without permission, but your character can and will get hurt in a fight. You also can't control every aspect of your certain element, be a master fighter and weapon specialist, speak nine languages and weigh 97 pounds with EE cup boobs. Please keep your character somewhat grounded in realism. Imperfect characters are interesting. It's fun to see their flaws and aspects that make them human. Play nice, have fun, and if your character is supposed to take a punch to the face, that punch had better land. Thank you, guys.

✭ A long time ago, large dragons ruled the Earth. When humans began to split off and form kingdoms, ruled by a single man or woman, the dragons settled into domesticated life and carried their human companions all over the known world. Many centuries of partnership existed between humans and dragons, until a Great War erupted with the sole intention of taking the entire world under a single kingdom. The devastation was awful, and millions of large dragons were killed. Any that survived became distrustful of the humans that forced them to battle each other, and humans began to slaughter the large dragons and the menaces they believed them to be. Soon, the entire race of large dragons was wiped from the Earth.

✭ Characters in this roleplay do not have to be part of the Prince's travel party. They can come and go as they please and do other things besides travel with him. This will give everyone a chance to rotate to help the Prince, but also have lives outside of his travel companions.

✭ Remember if you are in a certain village, you cannot travel quickly to another to say hi to someone. You have to take several days, if not a week or two to travel from village to village. Remember, you cannot fly on your dragon.

✭ Any villager can have any type of dragon element that they choose. However, I would recommend using a dragon that will benefit your job in the village. For example, if you are a butcher, an ice dragon may be for you. You don't have to by any means, but it will make your job a bit more difficult, should you choose not to.

✭ Anyone can guard their own land and territory. There will be no army per village, as the army is for the Emperor only. So, your character can have very basic fighting skills, but nothing over the top, because that would mean you have been trained by the army. Which can't happen, because you're not in the army.

✭ You may choose any job title you so desire, so long as it benefits the community you live in. Also, there is only one job title per village, so if you belong to a village and there's an attempt at two Noblemen, I'm going to ask that you pick a different village or a different title. However, there will be other NPC characters that correlate to your job, as well. So, for example, in one village, there will be ONE playable character that is a metal smith and the other metal smiths are NPC's.

✭ In line with this, you don't have to BE the job title. For example, the Nobleman would be an older man, not your twenty year old boy. They can be the SON or DAUGHTER of someone who has this job in the village, they don't have to BE doing that job just yet. However, you will be helping out your folks, and you will be learning how to do that job with your dragon.

✭ For the purpose of this roleplay, we will be using our elements as 'benders', to be fair to everyone one else in this roleplay. Your character must match your dragon. Your magic abilities you were born with but are amplified once you have your dragon. Before your dragon, you don't show many signs of magic except your elemental ability, and therefore, it is imperative that all characters have hatched a dragon as a child. That dragon can die, if you wish, once the bond is established, but in order for you to have magical abilities, you must have had a dragon.

We have no set jobs for you to adhere to
However, there will be only one of each job per village, but they must be realistic and have to do with the village's survival. Please only include those jobs that are useful and realistic.

Shop Owners:
If you own your own shop, you must have someone attend to it, if you decide to go journey. You cannot leave your shop unattended, or I promise there will be bandits.

Dragons are not required to match your job
It is useful to have a water dragon if you are a farmer, to help with agriculture and such, however it is not a requirement. Remember your job when choosing your dragon, because sometimes it can be difficult to do a job that your dragon is not equipped for.

Each element will only have four slots open. 

Dragon Communication
You are welcome to communicate with your dragon via telepathy, if you so choose. It will work as though you can hear each other's thoughts. No other humans can hear your dragon, and you cannot hear the thoughts of any other dragon than the one you are bonded with.
